I think many people are just clicking the download link to review what Josh did and if they want to use it...
Thx, Josh. I had someting similar in mind. The current ban-system could be improved. With some further hacking, different ban levels could be introduced. Admins can choose, how users should be banned (deny posting, deny pm's, deny searching, deny WIO, deny login, etc).
It would help very much if the unban-dialog would not only display the username/ip but also the reason, why the user/ip has been banned. We have a large ban-list and you can't really remember all names, ip's, why the have been banned and probably how long the should be banned.
I have my own ban-hack which adds several columns to w3t_Bans so that, for example, a user can be prevented from editing his profile, but still allowed to post. The drawback is that there's no GUI. You have to use phpMyAdmin or database queries.
It's not an especially good time, since I'm in the middle of some other work. But I'll try to slip this in as soon as I can. You have my permission to send me daily PM- or email-reminders, if I don't respond soon.
